What is Aikido?

Aikido is a Japanese martial art focused on balance, movement and calm control.

It’s practised by children and adults of all ages and does not involve competition or aggression.

Aikido Shinryukan students are guided by New Zealand’s only 8th Dan practitioner – Shihan Nobuo Takase.

Training improves:

  • Balance and coordination
  • Confidence and awareness
  • Calm under pressure
  • Practical self-defence skills

You don’t need to be fit, flexible, or experienced to start.

Aikido Shinryukan has 7 dojos in Auckland and a dojo in Hamilton, Cambridge, Tauranga, Gisborne, Wellington, Nelson, Motueka, Christchurch, Rangiora, Dunedin and Alexandra.
